Here’s another song from my opening set at Kira Willey Choir & Co. pop-up event. True Colors (written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly) is a Cyndi Lauper pop ballad from my youth and it has endured as a classic. I put my own spin on the song a few months ago, hoping to present it with the unconditional love and acceptance of a both a Mom and a Nana. What happens here is pure magic…Michael Lear’s gentle percussion, teary-eyed singing in the crowd, Eve Sheldon joining in on piano for the glorious freestyle at the end. All unrehearsed, and with grace.
