This is the first of three "Holiday Songs from Home Alone" which I've done as a little festive project. I always have fun doing my videos but this series has been a particularly good laugh! They are ideally meant to be sung by children, but as I'm just a big kid I think it works quite well like this. In fact, apart from the dodgy singing, I think this is my best sounding video so far (especially if you listen with headphones on). Parts 2 and 3 are coming over the next week and they get progressively more embarrassing as you will see if you stick with them.

I think this piece is wonderful - it totally captures the magic of Christmas from a child's eyes. To add an extra child-like sound, I played the flute parts on real recorders of various sizes (rather than my electronic wind instrument) including a new absolutely huge one which has a lovely rich sound. There are a few big crescendos and modulation which are real tear jerkers. I had to do quite a few retakes because I couldn't sing cos I was welling up too much!
